Quantum leap in spice production
WIBERG GmbH has been the leading developer and producer of herbs, spices and preparations for the food and catering industry for 60 years. An extensive vinegar and oil range is also available. The company employs 630 employees worldwide its headquarters are in Salzburg. Quality is the main principle at WIBERG. This applies to products as well as services.
The aim is to deliver even the smallest batch sizes or individual mixtures the following day. This contributes to the enormous complexity of the plant at the Freilassing site: production of solids and liquids, delivery of small quantities and large series to trade and industry customers. A new standard for efficiency and process safety has nevertheless been set. The large growth of recent years and the opening of new markets showed the limit of the two existing plants’ capacity. The appropriate strategy was to centralise and expand one of the facilities.
io-consultants' task was to develop a comprehensive overall design for the implementation of this strategy. Extensive construction and expansions measures were developed, the existing buildings were integrated, processes were completely redesigned and the reorganisation if the entire site was planned. A conclusive overall concept with path breaking innovative ideas for efficiency, hygiene and process safety was realised in order to centralise the spice production.
