BestSecret presents new central warehouse in Poing
Poing - 4.11.2015
On 31 October 2015, international textile wholesaler Schustermann & Borenstein and its online retail subsidiary BestSecret moved into their new central warehouse on the outskirts of town. The 30,000 sqm large premises were designed specifically to centralise logistics and speed up deliveries to the customer. Construction work began in July 2014. The industrial planning and consulting company io-consultants from Heidelberg was commissioned to plan and realise the entire project. The company deployed a team of experts from logistics, architecture, IT and project management for the concept work, construction supervision and implementation support.
From now on, all BestSecret logistics will be managed centrally in Poing, enabling the online retailer to react efficiently and flexibly to its expected growth. The brand has prompted a surge in Schustermann & Borenstein's eCommerce activities. "The choice of location near Munich represents a clear commitment to our home region and guarantees continuity with our existing workforce and their intellectual capital," says Sascha Krines, Managing Director for logistics. Around 100 new jobs have additionally been created as a result of the newbuild.
The new central warehouse features two large platform systems for flexible storage and easy order picking of flat-packed and hanging garments. A customised warehouse management system will optimise manpower and time-intensive processes. "Apart from cost-effectiveness, flexibility is of key importance. Our client must be able to react flexibly to changing growth forecasts and user scenarios," explains Martin Bitz, partner and project manager at io-consultants. A high degree of automation will help to meet logistics challenges such as returns handling.
Schustermann & Borenstein is a family-run company in its third generation that looks back on more than 90 years of entrepreneurship. Founded in Munich in 1924, the company has grown into an international fashion corporation with an established global clientele. The product range includes designer clothing and accessories for men and women as well as a wide selection of young fashion.
io-consultants wishes Schustermann & Borenstein all the best for its new central warehouse.
